The church council is a group comprised of representatives of all of the administrative and ministry teams at First Bethel. It makes decisions about the planning and implementing of every aspect of the church’s life, including its organization and ministries. Basically, when it comes to decision-making on behalf of the church, we think that two heads are better than one. And three heads are better than two. And…well, you get the point! Through council, the voice of every member of First Bethel can be brought to the table.
If there is a decision to be made about the budget, or a change to the church building, or a pastoral change—it is brought before church council for consideration. The council is also responsible for evaluating the church’s ministries and envisioning what new directions the church might go in ministry. Needless to say, it is vital for council members to rely on God’s spiritual direction in order to make these decisions on behalf of the church. What a joyful responsibility to share!
