Sacred Seeds is a pastor-led discussion group that reads and explores the lectionary text or texts to be read the following Sunday during worship. The lectionary is a sequence of scripture passages that are read in church services throughout the year. First Bethel typically follows the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of suggested scripture readings corresponding with the Christian year. Each Sunday, four passages of scripture are recommended, usually two from the Old Testament and two from the New Testament.

As its name suggests, Sacred Seeds is an opportunity for God to plant spiritual insights in the minds of participants prior to gathering for worship on Sunday. These insights then have time to germinate and lead to a more fruitful appreciation of worship.
