Much like shepherds who tend their flock, First Bethel’s Shepherds look after the congregation’s homebound members. As an active ministry group, they visit shut-ins on a weekly or monthly schedule to share some friendship, compassion, and often a small gift.
Shut-ins are grateful for the Thanksgiving dinners and gifts including crafts, pies, and home baked cookies that the Shepherds deliver. They look forward to the gracious visits as much as the Shepherds do and appreciate that someone is thinking about them. Shepherds know how uplifting an experience it is to brighten someone’s day through simple acts of love.
To spend time with a shut-in and to show them that you love and care about them is a rewarding experience! They know that the church is thinking about them. - Barb
