Our Youth Discipleship program challenges junior and senior high students to develop socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Through discipleship opportunities that balance fellowship, service, and spiritual growth, students ask questions and make discoveries about themselves and their faith.
Favorite fellowship activities of Youth Discipleship include canoeing, ice skating, bowling, a fall hayride, an Advent progressive dinner, and the annual overnight “lock-in”—just to name a few!
Life-changing service projects are something that every youth looks forward to. Each year participating students will fast in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine to raise awareness and funds to combat global hunger. Raising funds to send volunteers to work for Appalachia Service Project, a weeklong youth-driven mission project, is another key service opportunity.
In addition, students can attend the annual Youth Discipleship Retreat. This favorite event takes place at the Jumonville Christian Camp and Retreat Center in the beautiful Laurel Highlands Mountains of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Retreat themes have focused on topics such as poverty, equality, and globalization. And, of course, there is plenty of fun—sled riding, hiking to Jumonville’s Cross on the mountaintop, and the annual football match-up known as the “Shrimp Bowl.”
There is simply too much to say about Youth Discipleship in so little space. Come and experience it for yourself! All youth from seventh to twelfth grade are welcome.
