First Bethel United Methodist Church
Liturgists

“Liturgy” means “work of the people.” At First Bethel, it’s not just the pastors who lead the worship service—it’s a privilege that is shared by many different people.

A strong commitment to member involvement—particularly in worship—is something that makes the congregation at First Bethel unique. Our liturgists are one example of that involvement. The liturgists are members of the congregation, young and old alike, who assist in leading worship week after week.

By calling the people to worship and reading the Scriptures, they participate in an act that is central to the worship service: the sharing of God’s Word. Through their voices, the voice of the One we gather to worship is heard. What an important ministry!
